The Best Website Marketing Strategy in Life is Free

There are many things to love about search engine optimization. But my favorite thing about it? It’s free. It takes work. It takes time. But it doesn’t take any big bucks. Or even small ones. Now, there’s a website marketing strategy to love.

Well, it does take time. It takes your time to write your blog, submit your articles to the article directories, post to forums and comment on other blogs in your niche, optimize your pages for your keyword phrase, and do the rest of the collection of SEO techniques. It takes time for the search engines to find the optimized pages, the blog and forum posts, the articles and product reviews and submissions to the live directories. It takes time for the search engines to take all of those optimized keywords and backlinks seriously and give your site a boost in the search engines.

Now, some will argue that time is money. It isn’t always. When I was first starting out in internet marketing, I had a lot more time than money. So I used SEO to make my websites successful. And the result is that I now have a lot more money, too. SEO is a website marketing strategy that you can do on a budget of zero. Zip. Nada. You can also do it when you are brand new. Although it takes some skill, it isn’t hard to do if you know what the various SEO techniques are.

So, just to remind us, there are on-page and off-page SEO techniques. On-page SEO includes things you do on the pages of your website to draw the attention of the search engines to your keyword phrases. For example, your domain name should include your keyword phrase. And your pages should use your keyword phrase when you discuss and describe your products and services. Include an informational articles section on your site, in which you publish fresh, interesting content optimized for your keyword. If you use video or images on your site, tag them with appropriate keywords, too.

Off-page SEO is comprised of various ways to create backlinks from another site back to yours. Those techniques include writing articles that are optimized for your keyword phrase and submitting them to article directories, creating and posting to a blog and submitting your blog to RSS directories, posting on forums and commenting on blogs in your niche and submitting your site to live web directories. And there are more techniques: writing and submitting press releases, exchanging links with other websites in your niche and posting content on Web 2.0 content sites.

The key to SEO is to be consistent, persistent and prolific in all of your efforts. Don’t pick merely one or two techniques. Do them all. Don’t submit your site to only a few live web directories, submit them to a large number. And submit your unique and keyword optimized articles to a number of article directories, too.

It takes time but it doesn’t cost a cent. And the rewards of this fabulous website marketing strategy will be worth their weight in gold.
